With the spike in the cases of COVID 19 across the country, the central government has now announced that people above 18 years of age are also eligible for Corona Vaccine under the “liberalised and accelerated” phase 3 strategy of vaccination. The program will be rolled out from 1st May 2021. Covid-19 Vaccine would be available for free for everyone at all the government COVID vaccination centres. However, private hospitals can ‘’transparently declare their self-set vaccination price’’.
Earlier, people above 45 years of age were only eligible for Corona Virus Vaccine. By now, more than 12.38 crore people have been administered Corona Vaccine in India. In India, there are two types of vaccines- ‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaxin’. However, one cannot choose between two vaccines. Both the Coronavirus Vaccinations requires two jabs at the interval of 4 to 8 weeks.
In order to get a Vaccine, adults have to register at the official website of CoWIN – cowin.gov.in.
Online registration is a must for 18 to 45 years people to get Covid vaccine. Here we have provided a step by step guide of how people above 18 can register for the Covid-19 Vaccine.
Step 1 – Visit CoWIN or download the app and complete the log-in process.
Or,
Download Aarogya Setu app, which has been integrated with the CoWIN portal, and register under Vaccination tab of the app.
Step 2 – Enter your mobile number, and soon you will receive OTP on the same number.
Step 3 – Click on VERIFY button and enter your OTP.
Step 4 – You would be then routed to the Registration for Vaccination page.
Step 5 – On this page, provide all the details asked, such as an address, ID proof etc. Subsequently, tick mark on YES when it asks about the comorbidities.
Step 6 – Now you will receive a confirmation on the provided mobile number.
Step 7 – Select time and day for the vaccination.
During the registration process, you would require to fill in personal information, including photo ID proof and photo ID number, for which you should have any of the following documents.
In January, India took a sigh of relief when our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination programme. According to the programme, the state government introduced two vaccines – ‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaxin’.
Covaxin is the first indigenous Vaccine in India for Coronavirus. It is developed by the Bharat Biotech, Indian Council of Medical Research and National Institute of Virology. This vaccine has inactivated form of the virus and inhibits the growth and spread of the virus in the body.
