Navratris are the best time to visit the city since the entire city participates into nine days long dandiya dance and traditional dance is known as Garba. Both dances have their importance. The main highlight of the festival is full moon night, where the shine of the moon falls on the white desert sand. It’s no less than a heaven on the earth.

The Nehru Boat race in Kerala began in 1952 in honor of then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Thousands of man paddles the huge canoes known Chundan Vallam and snake boats in unison. 6. Pongal in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is known for its surreal beauty and its unique traditions; one of them is Pongal. In North India is the same festival is known as Makar Sankranti. It is a four-day-long harvest festival which is celebrated with much vigor and enthusiasm in the state. During four days galore many festive activities take place. 7. Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, Nashik, Haridwar, and Ujjain

The giant Hindu Mela is held once in three years, alternatively in 4 cities which are Allahabad, Nashik, Haridwar, and Ujjain. It is the largest Hindu pilgrimage where lakhs of devotees come to take a dip in the holy river. Kumbh Mela is one of its kind religious affairs that boasts Hindu rituals. After every 12 years, Maha Kumbh Mela is organized in Allahabad, and Ardh Kumbh is held after every six years in Haridwar and Pryagraj.

8. Losar- Tibetan New Year in Tibet

Losar is marked as the arrival of New Year for Tibetan Buddhist in Ladakh, Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan in the month of February and March. The Colorful festival is celebrated in Gaudy and Zest. Participating in Losar is one of the lifetime experiences. The celebrations take place for 15 days, where different Buddhist rituals, dance, and musical activities are performed. The streets of the Ladakh are washed and decorated with colorful flags, and people prepare Lama-Losar.

9. Rath Yatra in Puri, Orissa

Also, known as the chariot festival, Rath yatra is one of the largest festivals in India. The festival begins with Lord Jagannath and his siblings’ journey from Jagannath temple to Gundicha temple. The tour covers 17 km within Puri. The story of the festival says during the festival God Jagannath along with his brother and sister visit his aunt place and then come back to their home, i.e., Jagannath temple. If you plan to participate in the festival, you can take a flight or a train to Bhuvneshwar and then public transport to reach Puri.

10. Ganpatiotsav

Ganpatiotsav is one of the main festivals of Maharashtra. It begins with Ganesh Chaturthi, where devotees bring idols of Lord Ganesha at their home, and several pandals are organized for mass celebration. The highlights of the festival are its pandals that are decked in different themes every year. This is one of the must-visit Indian festival.
