The second wave of Pandemic is deadly even more than the first wave. In order to prevent this, it is important to increase the oxygen level in your body.
How to Increase Oxygen Level in Body at Home?
1. Practice Prone Position
One of the instant ways to up the oxygen level in the body is lying in the Prone Position. This method has been especially advised by the Health Ministry of India. All you would have to do is lie down on your belly and raise your chest with the help of the pillow. If you aren’t comfortable in this position, you can keep one pillow under your neck and two under the shins.
Alternatively, you can lie on any of your sides (left or right) at a 90-degree angle similar to the fowler position. Then breathe rapidly for some time until you experience a drop in your oxygen level. It’s good to remain in the same position for a while, even if you find it difficult. It would improve ventilation in the lungs and would help in improving the SPO2 level.
2. Antioxidant-Rich Diet
Ever since the Pandemic made our difficult, we’ve only hearing to sanitise, use a face mask and add antioxidants to our diet. While initially, it was hard to understand, but now most of us made peace with antioxidants. The answer to why antioxidants are that good is that it helps your body use oxygen most efficiently. What could be better than this? Foods like blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, kidney beans, plum, spinach, broccoli etc., are antioxidants rich.
In addition to this, you should add foods that have essential fatty acids and are a rich source of Vitamin F in your diet. These foods improve the capacity of the haemoglobin to carry oxygen in the blood. Iron-rich foods are also suitable for health as they help to improve the count of red blood cells. Green Vegies, legumes, poultry and even fish are good to add.
3. Practice Slow and Deep Breathing
Our breathing pattern plays an important role in the level of oxygen in the blood. In order to increase the oxygen level in your blood naturally, you should change your breathing style. According to the latest discovery, it is found that slow and deep breathing helps to increase the SPO2 levels in the body. While breathing, one should use their diaphragm rather than a chest as it allows the person to inhale a good amount of air which provides more oxygen to the body. Also, you should practice breathing from your nose rather than mouth to boost oxygen in your blood.
4. Keep yourself Hydrated
This isn’t new! Keeping yourself hydrated is good for health and skin too! And luckily, it also helps to boost the oxygen level in the body. Drink 7-8 glasses of water. While it’s good to eat fruits but at times when you do not feel like chewing them, you can turn them into a yummy smoothie or juice to give yourself that extra hydration. This further allows your body to expel carbon dioxide and increases oxygen levels. Fluids like juices etc., are good for immunity as well. A strong immune system would also help you to fight back seasonal flu and other health problems.
5. Exercise Aerobic
While any exercise is good for the body, but specifically aerobics helps to increase oxygen levels in the body. Plus, it also helps to relieve breathing problems. It allows cells to use oxygen in the most efficient way, which increases SP03. Plus, it is also good to boost immunity and your body’s endurance level. However, if you aren’t able to exercise aerobics, you can opt for a brisk walk, cycling swimming. While exercising, do not exert your body! You can start with exercising for 5-8 minutes, and when your body allows, you can increase the time. It would also keep you in best of the shape.
Low oxygen level is believed to be one of the main symptoms of COVID. Otherwise, also it is not good for the health as it won’t let your body function properly. One should always keep a check on the SPO2 level, which could be done with an oximeter. It should be above 94%; if it’s below the number, you should talk to your doctor.
